I just love this time of year. From now until the first day of winter when you place an order of $25.00 or more I will pay the shipping to any US address.

All you need to do is convince me the products you want are some how related to fall. It doesn't matter if it's the color, the scent, the shape, what ever about it makes you think of fall.

This is our new soap cake, Lavender scented and topped with dried calendular. Dried herbs can't get any more fall feeling than that now can they?

This soap cake weights almost 6 pounds. I slice is cut for you and you can do the rest. A pretty layer of baby blue topped with a honey yellow and topped with a layer of white frosting. There is dried calendula infused in the soap. Wouldn't this be a nice center piece for a bridal or baby shower? How about a fall garden tea?

Unscented Oatmeal

There is something so nice about oatmeal soap. It's soothing and just the smell of it makes me feel better. These bars have no added scent or coloring, just the scent and coloring from the ground oatmeal.

Recently I had the chance to use this soap. We spent the day at the fair, it was windy cold and rained off and on. I know why? Well the horse pulls were going on and I wanted to watch every last second of it I could.

When I got home I was cold and my face and hands were wind burnt. Into the shower I went to warm up and used this soap. I felt like a new person, gone was that tight burning feeling.

Lavender Salve

We have been making this here for quite some time and it has been very popular. I make a batch of it every week, so you know its fresh. This takes a good 3 weeks from start to finish to make.

I use organic lavender buds and infuse them in olive oil in the sun, when ready organic lavender essential oil and bees wax is added along with a bit of vitamine E.

A salve for minor burns but has become very popular with our gardening friends and knitters too. They like that it moisturizes, conditions and absorbs into their skin very quickly. I have one customer who is a seamstress and uses two tins every week in her shop. It's a good thing she is close by and I go into town every week, so I can drop it off for her.

For those of you who already use this nice salve, this is the same as you always have used, just new labels.

Lavender is one of my favorite herbs and sadly only 2 varieties will grow here on the farm with any success. I'm hoping to add more to the herb beds this summer to try and keep up with the demand for this salve. Right now I am using buds from a wonderful organic farm in Maine. The color is just beautiful so if you notice a bit of a purple/blue tint it's the lavender and not color added to the salve.

Lavender is a nice calming herb with great healing properties, anti-viral and anti-bacterial, a natural antiseptic. I have been told that this helps fussy babies nod off to sleep with a gentle head-to-toe massage using our salve. I haven't tried it myself yet but can see how it would. Lavender is very good to help one sleep.

Bath Melts

Lavender & Rosemary Bath Melts

This time of year with the cooler weather my skin gets so dry and I look forward to those hot baths to warm me up after a day working outside. Yes, fall is here and we are already wearing light weight jackets and gloves to do the morning and evening chores.  The heat has been on for a week or so now and only comes on in the evening, by mid morning the sun has warmed the house enough.

I have been playing around with some wonderful oils and butters I have here and made these.

As you know I love to give stuff away so my niece brought home with her a couple of these to try out. She called me right up and said she just loved them. From the size of the bars I cut she said she only needed to use 1/4 of a bar for her bath and she loved the dried lavender and rosemary!

These are mostly cocoa butter & palm oil both are very good for dry skin. These are not soap, they are moisturizers for your tub. There is a bit of baking soda and sea salt to soften the water and a good amount of lavender essential oil. On top is sprinkled dried lavender buds and rosemary. The heat from the warm tub water releases their scent and it is so relaxing.

My niece is right I only used 1/4 of the bar in my tub so they will last for several uses. Each bar is between 3-4 ounces. What a great value for such a treat.

Jewel Weed Salve

This is the first of September and the Jewel Weed is in full bloom. I just love this plant. I love the beautiful flowers, I love the healing value of this plant and I love playing with the seed pods. When you touch fully ripe ones they burst open and send the seeds flying. Great fun.

Summer often brings poison ivy rashes while haying and it will soon be fall here and that means it’s time to cut back the brush, rake up leaves and another round of poison ivy. Sad but true, no matter how hard we try someone always catches it.

Fresh Jewel Weed leaves and stems picked fresh from the plant are the best choice when using this to cure poison ivy. But when it’s not in season what do you do? Well around here I make salve, soap, and freeze the stems and leaves in ice cube trays.

Freezing fresh leaves and stems is easy. Simply pick the leaves, flowers and stems, cut them into small pieces and place into a container with a pouring spout on it, a glass measuring cup works great for this. Place the cut plant in the measuring cup and add enough distilled water (tap water will work too.) to just cover the plant material. Let this sit overnight on the counter, the next day pour it, plant material and all into ice cube trays and freeze. When frozen place the cubes into a storage container in the freezer until you need it. When you do need it, simply rub the frozen cube on the rash and it should help a great deal.

Salve has been popular around here too. My sister has used I bet 6 containers of it herself this summer. She always catches it from the hay, or from the dogs who run through the stuff then love up to her…. Not much she can do about it, around here house she has removed all the plants but the fields and woods around her house are full of it. She doesn’t want to keep the dogs tied so it’s a given she will catch it before the season is out.

She also uses this salve before going out into the yard to work as a barrier on her skin, works well for her and she swears by it. When she is done into the shower to use the Jewel Weed soap to help break down the poison ivy oils.

Yarrow Salve

Yarrow has the well-known ability as an antibacterial, analgesic, and anti-styptic (stops bleeding). Very good for insect bites, paper cuts and any other little painful cuts. It’s my #1 choice for all abrasions, cutting down the pain dramatically within minutes and minimizing chances of infection. A thin layer on the inside of the nose will also stop a nosebleed.

Made from infused Sweet Almond Oil, wild crafted Yarrow, beeswax and vitamin E.

Healing Salve

I have been making and using this Healing Salve for quite some time now, it's actually a hard item to keep around here. When I first started making it, I gave out tins of it to everyone I ran into. They keep coming back for more and giving my name out to their friends.

My intention was to create a salve that would actually work on my Granddaughter's bum. She has such sensitive skin and even the slightest wetness in her diaper would give her the worst rashes I have ever seen. I tried every ointment on the market and even a few prescription ones. None worked all that well, that little bum would be bleeding sore for days. This salve will clear up her diaper rash overnight.

This salve contains no petroleum products like many of the over the counter products and the herbs and essential oils are certified organic or wild harvested. Many coming from right here on the farm.

I talked to herbalists, local farmers and anyone else who would talk to me about the herbs I was using or wanted to use and read all I could find. After several changes to my original recipe I am satisfied with this version and think you will be too.

This salve goes everywhere with me, I keep a tin in my back pack, in the car and in my saddle bags. These 2 ounce tins will last a long time. If the sun should heat it up it will re harden when it cools back off, but you will want to try and keep it from melting because it will run out of the tin and stain.

Last summer a friend of mine came down with a good case of poison ivy after haying a field. Again this salve surprised me, it stopped his itch and cleared up the rash in a few short days. He didn't suffer from the common problem of the rash oozing and weeping like it usually will.

It works well on any scrapes, irritations and minor burns. Because it contains Jewelweed it works well on poison ivy. It also contains Confrey and this herb is know to heal wounds quickly so don't use it on deep cuts or puncture wounds that need to heal from inside out.
